Hundreds take the Penguin Plunge into Lake Champlain

All money raised from the event goes to supporting the 1,005 athletes at Special Olympics Vermont, some of whom took the plunge themselves Saturday. Lisa DeNatale, president and CEO of Special Olympics Vermont, estimated during the opening ceremonies that the plungers had raised about $400,000, reaching the organization's goal and beating last year's total of $386,000.
